The history of Minnesota
The history of Minnesota concerns the state of Minnesota that forms part of the United States of America. It is located along the northern border with Canada, at the western shore of Lake Superior. The first people came to region that now forms Minnesota during the last Ice Age, following herds of large game. The Anishinaabe, the Sioux, and the other Native American inhabitants of the region represent the ancestors of these first early settlers. European presence began with the coming of French fur traders in the 1600s. During the 1800s most of the Native American population was pushed out as American settlers moved westward. By 1858, thousands of people had come to build farms and cut timber, and...

Hawaii, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin are among the states that...

Nice Guys Really Finish First - Really?
How can anyone with the brain of a cockroach make such a stupid statement? So rang out the scorn of a killer talk show host on a television station in Cleveland. When I was on tour in his city, John Kelly quoted Leo Derocher who said just the opposite -- "Nice guys finish last." Kelly also quoted from books like Winning Through Intimidation, Looking Out For Number ONE and possibly, Succeeding With A Swift Kick To the Groin.John Kelly had done everything except put a dunce-cap on my head as he seated me on a stool before the cameras and, despite his complete ignorance of what I was teaching, proceeded to ridicule my leadership seminar for managers, pastors, teachers and other professionals. He held my...

Today marks a special day, June 6th, 2006..the 6th day, of the 6th month, in the year 2006. Otherwise known as 666. The people behind the new Omen remake know that, hence their onslaught of "Heed the Omen" and "666 his day will come" ad campaigns. But someone else knows this as well, and it's the folks in a little town called "Hell Michigan". Yes ladies and gents, there actually is a town in Michigan called "Hell"...and it isn't Detroit. Speaking of Detroit, today, the town of Hell Michigan which lies just 60 miles of the motor city, is throwing a celebration in honor of todays special date. John Colone, the towns mayor organized the event which will feature a million little "Hell" things to do...

On rare occasions, when a well-meaning Christian discovers that I prefer home churches to traditional denominational gatherings and am not affiliated with any particular group - although I'm asked to minister in many - it has happened that their discovery is met with a negative response, assuming I must have been hurt and require a ministerial tourniquet.Truth is, just as it is with so many others, yes, I was hurt. But Jesus, my Redeemer and Healer, ministered to me, bound up my wounds and turned me loose on the enemy. The Father has used certain negative, manmade circumstances over the years to get me to recognize that what I was calling "The Church" had no semblance to anything described within...
It May Not Get Dumber Than This
On first glance this article may seem to be about sports since it is about former welterweight boxing champion Zab Judah. He is a very good fighter and is still in good shape to possibly be a champion again. However, what happened to him the other day and his response to it point strictly to cultural issues.Judah was hanging on a street corner in New York City at about 5 a.m. in front of his yellow Lamborghini. Suddenly, a car pulls up with several thugs inside. One of the thugs points a gun at Judah demanding all valuables. Showing he still has good footwork, he takes off. The idiot criminals, totally baffled, get back into the car and drive off. Zab gets into his car and starts to follow the...

The celluloid self-image of Los Angeles is known all over the world. The first-time visitor to Los Angeles may well find it to be thrilling and threatening in equal proportions. It is a very...

In my previous article describing how governments are using the doctrine of eminent domain the steal private property from legal owners, I related the tale of the Gateway Motor Speedway and its' shennanigans in concert with the Southwestern Illinois Development Authority (SWIDA) to seize property for a parking lot. Well, it seems that the organizations that run race tracks find the government a wonderful conduit for predatory land acquisition. The State of Kansas has has become one of the most egregious offenders as they have allowed the Kansas Motor Speedway to shanghai private property it wanted, among many others. How To Avoid The Most Common Mistakes Made When...
Buying a home is one of the most important and significant financial decisions that most people ever make. And because of the large sums of money that are involved, there are definite pitfalls and problems that you want to do your best to avoid as you make your decision. One of the most common mistakes that many home buyers make is not getting pre-approved or pre-qualified for their mortgage loan in advance of starting their home shopping. As a result, if they put in an offer on a home at the same time that another prospective buyer makes an offer, and that buyer has been pre-qualified, the other buyer will almost always get the house because of having their financial arrangements already in order...

Interior design buildings housing high-end fabric, furniture, and home accessories are considered number one on the interior designers' shopping list of decorator-only showrooms.
